Ch'in voi signor s'asconde sol conviene;
Di mostra il paragon ch'appress tiene
Di chi agiungerlo tenta il cieco errore.

Un bel diamante poi per far maggiore
Vostra gloria immortal, mostrar viene
La sempre ferma fede al mal, al bene,
Una medesma nel invitto core.

Ond'il bel nome vostro, sovra l'alle
Illustre il porterà famios'e chiaro
L'aquila altiera in ciel in gremb' a Giove

Il qual vistro ch'avrà per certe prove,
Che qua giù a voi non è nè ha su paro,
Farave a se nel suo bel regn'eguale.

The sacred bird of Jove has that merit
In your hidden and meets but unto you
And serves as an example of blind terror
Which seeks to overcome and reach it.

Then comes a lovely diamond to increase
Your glory 'mongst mortal men
A faith unshakable to evil and to good
One and the same to heart unconquerable.

Wherefore the eagle proud your name sublime
Upon its wings illistriously will bear
Famed and renowned to heaven in the laps of Jove

Who soon as he has seen through certain signs
That here on earth none equals you
Will he, then, in his 'chanted kingdom an equal make of you.
