Ik stond versteld dat de Muzen
eer dan gewoon verheugd waren,
en dat zij uitbundig nieuwe liederen zongen.
Ik keek uit om te zien of Phoebus Apollo zelf
in feestelijke stemming de blije koren leidde.
Of iemand me liever was dan Phoebus
en voor wie ik de godinnen blijvend aandacht zag schenken.
Zij juichten samen in één akkoord: Leve Albrecht, Hertog van Beieren!’
In hem schijnt alle kracht, meer dan bij anderen.
Ik zie dat hij in heerlijkheid de helden overtreft
en hem de volle eer toekomt.
Hij , de driemaal grootste, is ons meer genegen dan Phoebus zelf.
Wij voelen ons sterker door zijn kracht.
Hij zal met harmonieuze stem ons koor leiden.
Daarom zullen we hem onze loftuitingen
met luid applaus toesturen:
Leve voor eeuwig de Hertog van Beieren!

I marveled that the Muses were more cheerful than usual
and sang of such great joy with new songs
I approached to see whether Phoebus Apollo himself,
exultant in festive mood, led the merry choruses.
But I saw another much dearer to me than Phoebus,
one for whom I saw the goddesses maintaining a constant vigil.
They shouted together in one accord and with one voice:
Long live Albrecht, Duke of Bavaria.
In him every kind of virtue shines forth, above all others,
seeing that he is the splendor of heroes and the one true honor.
He, the thrice greatest, is dearer to us than Phoebus himself;
there is nothing like his love towards us.
We are embellished by his virtue; then with harmonious voice
he will rightly lead our chorus and be our god.
Therefore let us unwearyingly pile up his praises as we applaud him:
May the new Duke of Bavaria live forever.
