Vaghi pensieri che mentr'havest'il cielo

Vaghi pensieri che mentr'havest'il cielo
Com'Amor volse, benign'e sereno,
Si lietamente scherzavi nel seno
Di quella per cui ardo e pių no'l celo,

Quivi rendendo d'amoroso zelo

Joyful thoughts that while the sky was
since Love willed it, kindly and serene
played without a care upon the breast
of her whom I love now without concealment.
filling my heart thereby with so se delicious
an amorous passion
that I could wish for no pleasant state
nor would have changed with any other man:
look fo more tranquil, quiet waters
on which to spread your sails, another haven,
since now my lady cares for me no more.
If it seems hard for you, alas, to change
so pleasant life, take comfort from the thought
that every mortal thing must have an end.
