captivitatem Sion
facti sumus
sicut consolati
Tunc repletum est gaudio os nostrum
et lingua nostra exultatione.

Tunc dicent inter gentes:
Magnificat Dominus
facere cum eis
facere nobiscum
facti sumus laetantes.

Converte, Domine
captivitatem nostram
sicut torrens in austro.
Qui seminant in lachrimis
in exultatione metent.

Euntes ibant et flebant
mittentes semina sua.
Venientes autem venient
cum exultatione
portantes manipulos suos.

Toen de Heer het lot van Sion aantrok
waren wij getroost.
Een lach verscheen op onze lippen
en wij begonnen te juichen.

Dan zeiden ze onder de heidenen:
De Heer heeft voor hen grote dingen gedaan.
De Heer heeft ons schitterend bejegend
Dat maakt ons blij.

Bevrijd ons nu, Heer,
van onze gevangenschap
zoals u de rietzee in de woestijn deed terugkeren.
Wie in tranen zaaiden,
zullen oogsten met gejuich.

Wie wenend zijn vertrokken,
geladen met zaad,
zullen terug thuiskomen
met volle schoven.

When the Lord turned again
the captivity of Sion:
then were we like unto them that dream.
Then was our mouth filled with laughter
and our tongue with joy.
Then said they among the heathen
The Lord hath done great things for them.
Yea, the Lord hath done
great things for us already
whereof we rejoice.
Turn our captivity, O Lord
as the rivers in the south.
They that sow in tears
shall reap in joy.
He that now goeth on his way weeping
and beareth forth good seed:
shall doubtless come again with joy
and bring his sheaves with him.
