Ch'io sì sospiro in vano:

Anglais

If, like the golden tresses of my Phyllis
and her snow-white forehead and those eyes
that at times have the power
of moving mountains and stemming the rivers' flow;
if, like the milk-white and vermillion roses
of pearly teeth, red lips and snowy hands
honoured by the third sphere of the sky.
one could also see the hidden parts
for qhich iI sigh so much in vain,
all men like me would becone insane.
